Living France Top Tips - Car Rental in France

- For a comfortable trip, make sure you choose a big enough car for all passengers and their luggage. Going up a size bracket is not necessarily that much more expensive

- Petrol is expensive, so don’t hesitate to ask the car rental company if they have diesel-only car groups

- Book as much in advance as you can to ensure a larger choice of vehicle and to take advantage of any early booking offers

- Think about extra cover insurance to cancel excess in case of damage or theft

- Leave your old road atlas at home. You can ask for mobile GPS which will take you anywhere you want

- If you need assistance during your trip, don’t hesitate to look at your rental agreement: all contacts details should be clearly indicated

- To gain time at pick-up, have all your documents ready to be checked: your driving licence, credit card and voucher (if you have one)

- At time of pick-up, always check for damage on the car. Don’t hesitate to inform an agent before leaving if you notice something. It will be indicated on the rental agreement straight away

- Enquire as to the nearest agent to where you’re staying for local assistance. It’s worth remembering that larger companies may have a larger agency network

- Enjoy driving in France and have a great trip!
