Saint Savinien is a pretty village on the Charente river with shops, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities and our property near the church at the top of the hill.Built around 1850 from the local limestone it encloses the pretty paved courtyard, with the main house backing on to the road. We live downstairs, with:-
The Grenier, a separate gite on the first floor, accessed by a staircase from the courtyard to the balcony whence a French window enters the large main room. This living room has a kitchen corner with dishwasher, dining area and a double sofa bed. From the living room a door leads into the main bedroom and the en-suite shower/toilet room.
The self-catering Preau is our smaller gite with double French windows onto the courtyard. This has a double bedroom opening into the fitted kitchen/living room with a sofa bed. There is a shower/toilet room.
The Preau can accommodate two adults and one child, or,with the addition of the Dependence the Preau Suite sleeps a total of four to five people in all for a self-catering holiday.
Next door is Numero Onze. Entering from the rue du Peu, the ground floor of this house has a large living/sitting/dining room with the kitchen at one end. A corridor links past a w.c. to the shared utility room with washing machine, and a door into the courtyard of No 9. Other residents of Numero Neuf have access to this room.. Upstairs are a bedroom with a double and a single bed and next a room with a single bed. There is a shower/toilet room across the landing. Numero Onze has French doors which open directly on to the Rue du Peu which leads down to the town and the island.
