France’s top 50 personalities
Tennis star turned musician Yannick Noah has topped newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche’s twice-yearly poll of France’s top 50 personalities for the second time running. Another sporting star, football legend Zinadine Zidane slipped one place into third position, beating his former team mate Thierry Henri who came 33rd. The biggest impact was made by comic actor Dany Boon, the man behind the hit film Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis, who made an impressive debut in second place.
Two women appearing for the first time are Ingrid Betancourt, the recently released French-Columbian hostage, in 21st place, and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, who just made the cut at number 50. Despite this, the poll might not be a topic for discussion in the Sarkozy household as the president fell 12 places to 44. He can, however, be reassured by the fact that his one-time political rival Ségolène Royal fell 13 places to 49, just one place ahead of his wife.
