Once you have found your plot and construction is about to get under way, you will need to tackle the issue of getting services to the plot. It is absolutely vital that this is done as early on in the build process as possible. If you are buying direct from a developer, many will offer to organise connection to utilities as part of their ‘after sales support’.

However, this is likely to be restricted to water, waste disposal and electricity. If you are buying a plot on a lotissement, check the connection charges before signing the compromis de vente. Running services to isolated plots can often prove both expensive and time-consuming, therefore it is vital to get an accurate quote for the charges that will be involved before continuing with the purchase. Once you have an idea of what it is going to cost, it is time to start connecting your plot to the various services.
