Pay a Quarter of The Price For Energy in France

If you’re running a company in Britain then you can expect to pay four times more for electricity than that of your competitors in France.

Its an alarming figure that causes concern when assessing the country’s competitiveness and comes at a time when Ofgem, the regulator of electricity and gas markets in Great Britain is announcing a report into competition into the energy market.

Prices in the UK have risen due to a short supply resulting in a market that is very close to its safety limit.

On Friday 3 October, the forward price of power for November reached more than £130 per megawatt hour. In France, it was about €40 (£31) per megawatt hour, according to Spectron, a supplier of energy market data.
